Kids engaging in art
The Connecticut Affiliate of Young Audiences Arts for Learning

Arts for Learning Connecticut (AFLCT) believes every child deserves the right to an education that fosters their creativity and allows them to experience and explore the arts. For over forty years, the Connecticut affiliate of Young Audiences Arts for Learning has provided arts-integrated instruction that is accessible, supportive, and welcoming to children of all backgrounds and abilities, serving as an essential resource for arts engagement across the state.

AFLCT teaching artists offer performances, workshops, and residencies in music, dance and movement, theater arts, storytelling, visual, and digital arts. The organization also offers professional development opportunities for educators, partnering teachers with teaching artists to design arts-integrated programs tailored to meet the educational and curriculum requirements of individual schools and classrooms of all grade levels.

As an inclusive organization, AFLCT provides a rich variety of arts experiences and programs to community centers, libraries, and other civic organizations serving youth and families; it also works with VSA, the international organization on Arts and Disability, to serve students with differing abilities. AFLCT is working with the Connecticut Office of the Arts to provide a whole-school, deep-impact arts in education program designed to improve school culture, student engagement, and teacher professional practice – ultimately working to close the opportunity gap in Connecticut’s schools.
