The Young Audiences Arts for Learning has long been committed to supporting the growth and development of individual affiliates through a variety of services and grant programs. The Affiliate Development Fund (ADF) provides an opportunity to help build the capacity of affiliates and the network in order to establish ideas that can serve as best practices for the network and the field. Through the ADF program, the YA network will fund up to five affiliates for grant amounts of $25,000 per year.
This year's ADF proposals were assessed on January 24, 2013 by the Affiliate Development Application Review Panel in New York City. The three adjudicating panelists were: Don Gephardt, Dean Emeritus of the College of Fine and Performing Arts and Professor of Music at Rowan University; Marilyn Hoyt, the former CEO of the New York Hall of Science, currently teaching and working for The Foundation Center; and Greg McCaslin, Education Director at the Roundabout Theatre in New York City. Dave Houser, Chair of the YA Network Policy Committee participated as an observer.
After a highly competitive selection process, we are excited to announce the recipients of the 2013 ADF grants! Each of the selected five proposals will be awarded $25,000:
STEM Learning through the Arts Research and Evaluation Project, Arts Partners, Wichita, KS
Young Audiences Charter School: A New Model for Learning through the Arts, Young Audiences of Louisiana
Teaching Arts Professional Development, Young Audiences of Northern California
Most at Risk Out-Of-School Time Programming, Young Audiences of Western New York, Buffalo, New York
